Islands In the Net

Islands In the Net

Coming soon

Padimai Art & Tech Studio is pleased to announce the opening of Islands in the Net, a group exhibition curated by Kathleen Ditzig, Ryan Ho, and Joshua Comaroff. Bringing together web-based and data-native artworks, archives and cultural projects, Islands in the Net invites you to consider Southeast Asian futures in an age shaped by artificial intelligence, data extraction and memetic culture. Referencing Bruce Sterling’s 1988 novel of the same name, the exhibition revisits Singapore as a node within expanding networks of data and capital, and new economies of intention and influence, while offering a space for collective reflection and participation in exploring how technology shapes everyday life in the region. Featuring works and projects by: Heman Chong Fyerool Darma Ho Rui An WeiWei Hsu MIT’s Cyborg Psychology research group and the Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) research program at the MIT Media Lab Grace Quek Bussy Temple Ryan Ho with Emotional Technologies Lab The exhibition unfolds as a meeting place for Southeast Asian futures: part exhibition, part public living room and part evolving programme platform where visitors are invited to encounter and contribute to AI-generated future selves, regional histories of cybernetics, living archives, interactive maps, performances, screenings, and artworks that use, generate, and exchange data.

Olafur Eliasson

In Your view matter (2022/2025), Eliasson invites participants to move through six virtual environments shaped after the five Platonic solids and a sphere. Within each, animated moiré patterns pulse and shift in response to movement, accompanied by a minimalist soundtrack composed by the artist. The work transforms perception into an embodied, spatial act, extending Eliasson’s exploration of light, geometry, and the viewer’s role in creating meaning.
